The biomass nature trail

This nature trail serves to teach people, mainly children, more about timber as a raw material. The many possibilities of timber as a raw material are presented to visitors, and people are shown how heat and power can be produced from timber waste and remnants.
The biomass nature trail directly connects the district heating plant with the Nature Park House in the Grandhotel.
A path leads directly from the Nature Park House to a small clearing and the forest world of wonder. This is a place for taking a rest, playing and experiencing the forest; everything revolves around the theme of the forest – what else? The central element is a platform, from which several root lines radiate into the site, as though from a tree stump. On the platform itself one can take a rest or try out the bird riddle. Kids love to play beneath the platform, in the "fox hole". Along the roots there are many opportunities to play: an otter slide, climbing trees, a large woodpecker tree to slide into and a barefoot path. Experiencing and feeling nature are foremost in our forest world of wonder, rendering it a rather different kind of playground! But adults will have fun too: a large number of folding display boards in attractive designs offer information about interrelations and special characteristics of the forest habitat.

Directly adjacent to the forest world of wonder there is the tree village. Here in three large "trees" you can find more information about the different possibilities for using timber.

Another stop on the nature trail is the Celtic tree horoscope.
Here the central element is a circle of 21 larch timber stilts, which offer information on the “language of senses” and "characteristics" of the tree species chosen. The walk-through tree horoscope offers each visitor the possibility of finding their personal birthday tree and testing the characteristics of the tree for themselves.
Via a round tour, the visitor is taken back to the Nature Park House or can take a walk to the nearby district heating plant. There, in the viewing gallery, they can marvel at the innovative process of using waste timber for the production of heat and power.
